Pool Cue Weight
All Viking cues feature an interchangeable pool cue weight bolts
system. Changing the pool cue weights is an easy process that takes only
a couple of minutes. Here’s your simple guide to changing the pool cue
weights in a Viking cue.
Step 1: Determine the pool cue weight.
Step 2: Unscrew the rubber bumper.
Step 3: Using the hex key, determine are there cue weight
bolts in the cue. It may be necessary to remove existing cue weight
bolts and install a new cue bolts to make the cue lighter or heavier.
Step 4: Apply silicone gasket adhesive/sealant.
Applying
a silicone gasket adhesive/sealant on the cue weight bolts will help
keep them in place.
When stacking pool cue weight bolts be sure to use the
adhesive/sealant on the ends of the cue weight bolts as well.
Step 5: Carefully thread the cue weight bolt down into the
cavity of the cue with the hex key until the bolt is snug.
Use
extra care when starting to thread the cue weight bolts so as to avoid
stripping out the threads.
A small table-top lathe or power drill with the appropriate hex bit
works well too.
If you must use the hex tool, it is quicker if two people are
involved - one turning the hex tool and the other turning the cue in the
opposite direction.
Step 6: Thread the bumper back into the butt of the cue.

The tools of the trade: a 1/4-inch T-handle hex key (minimum
of 9 inches long) and 1-ounce, 1.5-ounce, and 2-ounce weight bolts.
Also required: silicone instant gasket adhesive and/or sealant
and a cleaning rag.
Optional items: digital scale and lathe or power drill.
The natural weight of each model varies as does the amount of weight
added to each cue to achieve a desired weight.
The maximum amount of weight that can be added to any cue is five
ounces (any combination of the three weight bolt sizes to make five
ounces).
Weight bolts and hex keys are available only to dealers. To have the
weight changed please send your Viking cue to Schmidt Billiards and Game
Rooms.
